Day 1
| Travel to the airport of your choice and board your flights to Port Moresby, PNG, on arrival transfer to our Hotel and meet in the afternoon for a trek briefing and drinks at the Pool Bar.
|
Day 2
| Your trek commences with pick up at your Port Moresby Hotel and travel to the Bomana War Cemetery where we will spend about 30-40 minutes. From there onto McDonalds Corner, Base Depot and other monuments along the way and ending up at Owers Corner for the commencement of our trek.
Once at Owers Corner, porters will be allocated to trekkers and the real experience begins. We then proceed to the Goldie River, where we will cross using safety ropes and then onto Dump 66. Here we will make camp, have a shower using portable Solar Showers or bath in the creek, eat a hearty meal and bed down for the night. |
Day 3
| After a good nights rest and breakfast we head north along the track passing through Goodwater (original Dump 66), ascend the Golden Stairs to the top of Imita Ridge. After a rest we descend the north side of Imita Ridge (Golden Stairs) and onto Ua-Ule Creek or Dump 44 where we will make camp for the night. This is as far along the track that we go and this is also just below the furthest advancement of the Japanese Forces and is the furthest retreat point of the Australian Army.
At Ua-Ule creek we can bath in the creek and also there is an opportunity of erecting our tents in one of the Guest Houses for the night. |
Day 4
| After breakfast and breaking camp we retrace our footsteps Back up Imita Ridge, climb the faces which we had previously descended, here we take a break and then descend down the south side of Imita Ridge (Golden Stairs). At the bottom we again rest and then travel southward along the track to Goodwater (original Dump 66) where we will make camp for the night. At Goodwater we have tent en-suites with solar showers or a bath in the creek, whichever you prefer.
After dinner a few talks and even a sing a-long we bed down for the night. |
Day 5
